The purpose of pumps is to transport liquids from a lower level to a higher one, or from an area of lower pressure to an area of higher pressure. The working components used to transfer the liquid can include an impeller, a piston, or a diaphragm. Submersible pumps are a type of pump that is very useful on a farm. These extremely easy-to-use devices allow, among other things, for the removal of water from any place where it accumulates, such as a pond, swimming pool, or well. They also help in the event of flooding or when our garden needs watering. When choosing a submersible pump, we should primarily consider the properties of the water or wastewater it will be pumping. The suitability of specific pumps or their components depends largely on the exact composition of the contaminants.

Features of a submersible pump

A major advantage of submersible pumps is their light weight, typically ranging from 4 to 6 kg, which makes them easy to transport. A pump permanently installed in one location should be equipped with a cooling jacket to prevent the motor from overheating. Electric submersible pumps are equipped with a float switch; this allows us to set the desired water level in the tank, and when that level is reached and the float changes position, the device automatically shuts off. Depending on your needs, pumps with low power—300 W—or higher power—up to 1100 W—are available on the market.

Submersible pump for dirty water

Graywater is considered dirty water, such as water from a bathtub or sink, but not contaminated with grease. Rainwater and well water are often classified as dirty water. In such cases, the pump does not need to be very powerful. The situation is different when dealing with mud.
